July 1 is Filing Deadline for EHR Incentive Program Exceptions

The North Carolina Medical Society Foundation’s Director of Practice Improvement Terri Gonzalez would like to remind everyone that July 1, 2014 is the last day to file for an exception to the EHR Incentive Program to avoid the 1 percent payment reduction in 2015.

Attest before October 1, 2014 if 2014 is your first year of participation in the EHR Incentive program.  You will participate in Stage 1 for 90 days of attestation to qualify for the first year’s incentive payment of $11,760.

Exception applications are due to CMS no later than July 1, 2014.  Providers not yet participating in the EHR Meaningful Use Incentives, may want to consider filing for an exception.

Providers who have not yet participated in the Incentive program yet want to participate in 2014 (and be eligible for the meaningful use incentive payments during this last year to qualify) must attest before October 1, 2014 to avoid the 1 percent payment reduction for Medicare Part B claims in 2015.

Visit the CMS website for more information on participation as well as exceptions and payment reductions. Contact Terri Gonzalez at 919-833-3836 X123 for more information and assistance.
