The American Medical Association Young Physicians Section (AMA-YPS) recognized Elizabeth Kanof, MD, last month at the 2012 AMA Annual Meeting with its Young at Heart Award. This recognition is presented annually to an AMA member whose support and guidance has strengthened the AMA-YPS.

In nominating Dr. Kanof for the award, NCMS member Liana Puscas, MD, fellow AMA member and ENT physician at Duke University Health System, said, “Dr. Kanof is an excellent mentor for young physicians and a tireless advocate. She is wise, caring, experienced, and a great listener.”

Dr. Kanof is a North Carolina Dermatology Association (NCDA) member, has served on the North Carolina delegation to the AMA for the past 22 years and is Past President of the NCMS. Most recently, Dr. Kanof was honored by the Society with an endowment in her name that will support the NCMS Leadership College and the newly created Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership.
