NC Department of Public Health Issues MERS-CoV Advisory

The state’s Department of Public Health issued an advisory last week for all health care providers to be on the lookout for symptoms that correspond to the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona virus (MERS-CoV). North Carolina State Epidemiologist Megan Davies, MD, recommends that clinicians consider MERS-CoV when treating any patient with a serious respiratory illness who has traveled in the Middle East or been in close contact with someone who has.

Read the advisory to learn the specific symptoms to watch for and questions to ask the patient.
