NCMS’s Practice Management and Improvement Consultants Present at NCPA Workshop

In 2013, Psychiatric CPT Codes are changing dramatically, and to ensure that North Carolina physicians and their staff members are prepared for the updates, the North Carolina Psychiatric Association (NCPA) asked the NCMS Foundation’s practice management consultants, Terri Gonzalez and Franklin Walker to present a CPT Coding and Practice Management Workshop last Friday in Greensboro. The workshop offered information and practical, hands-on training for physicians and practice staff about the new CPT Codes used for psychiatric services. Speakers discussed practice management issues, including staffing, overhead, benchmarking, software, etc.

The workshop had more than 175 in attendance, and offered information and practical, hands-on training for physicians and practice staff about the new CPT Codes used for psychiatric services. Terri Gonzalez, NCMSF Director of Practice Improvement and Franklin Walker, Director of Programs, led the financial management session, which was designed to teach doctors and practice managers to be able to conduct basic financial analysis on practical practice operations, and learn how to select EHR technology and achieve meaningful use of that technology.

“We were thrilled to have Franklin and Terri lead the practice management session”, said NCPA’s executive director Robin Huffman. “The information Terri and Franklin shared was great. Terri had a group of doctors following her after her presentation to ask for more. Franklin’s depth of knowledge was vast–even a little overwhelming. NCPA is grateful to the NCMS Foundation for providing such a wonderful resource for our physicians.”
