Public Health Alert: Syphilis Cases on Rise in NC

The North Carolina Division of Public Health issued a notice to providers last week alerting them to a rise in syphilis cases in the state and reminding them of evaluation and treatment protocols. From Jan. 1, 2014 until July 31, 2014, there were 483 new reported cases of the disease, compared to 371 for the same period in 2013 and 341 in 2012.
