Review Panel for the NC Medical Board Seeking Applicants

The North Carolina Review Panel for Nominating Members of the North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB) now is accepting applications for two seats for physicians (MD or DO) on the NCMB. These positions will become open in November 2014. Please click here for more information about NCMB service.

The Review Panel consists of nine members, including four from the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS), one from the Old North State Medical Society, one from the North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association, one from the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, one from the North Carolina Nurses Association Council of Nurse Practitioners and one public member currently serving on the Review Panel.

Applicants recommended by the Review Panel are forwarded to the Governor for consideration.

The basic requirements for applying to serve on the NCMB are: an active North Carolina medical license, no public disciplinary actions with the last 10 years and ability to put in the time. The Review Panel seeks to get a comprehensive understanding of an applicant’s qualifications for the NCMB from peers, co-workers, and colleagues of the applicant. Applicants should seek letters of support (three required) from individuals knowledgeable of the candidate’s skills and capabilities to serve effectively on the Board, but are discouraged from seeking letters of support/endorsement from active members of the Review Panel, Review Panel staff, NCMB, current NCMB staff, or any other entity that may represent a conflict of interest.

The deadline for receipt of applications (including the application form and the three required letters of recommendation) is close of business (COB) on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. All qualified applicants will subsequently be invited to participate in a face-to-face interview with the Review Panel.  Details regarding this meeting will be available at a later date.

For information on ideal letters of support or any questions on the application process please contact Aaron White, Review Panel coordinator, at 919-861-4545 or click here to send an email message.

Applications can be submitted on-line here or the form can be printed and submitted by mail (USPS) or UPS or FedEx or hand delivered to the Review Panel offices at 1500 Sunday Drive, Suite 102, Raleigh, NC 27607.
