The AMA has prepared a summary and analysis of the 2011 Medicare Physician Payment Proposed Rule. The rule, recently released by CMS, is scheduled for publication in the Federal Register on July 13, 2010, and is open for comment until August 24, 2010.

At 1,250 pages, the rule includes both the standard annual update to the Medicare payment schedule and implementation of many provisions of the Affordable Care Act.  The summary touches on the issues that are likely to be of most interest to physicians but does not review every element of the proposed rule.
