North Carolina Medicaid Director Carol Steckel has resigned her post, according to news reports. Steckel, who assumed her post here January 22, is taking a private sector  job with WellCare Health Plans in Tampa, Fla.  Her last day will be Friday, Oct. 11. The NC Department of Health and Human Services has stated they will begin a search for her replacement immediately.
