NCMS Health Policy Director Amy Whited attended the Federation of State Medical Boards Annual Meeting in Chicago, April 22-24, 2010.

The conference included workshops highlighting issues that affect the regulation of medicine across the country. Among the topics discussed were telemedicine policies, medical regulation under the new health system reform law, electronic health records and the maintenance of licensure.

The North Carolina Medical Society was one of the only state medical societies present at this year’s meeting. NCMS presence is a key element in keeping our members informed of initiatives that may be forthcoming, but is also imperative to maintaining relationships with our state medical board.
