Medicare Physician Payment Cut Delayed Until January 1, 2011
By a voice vote, the U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation on Tuesday that provided a 31-day reprieve from the 23 percent Medicare physician payment cut that had been scheduled to take effect on December 1.

SGR Fix Requires Physicians to Take Action
Unless Congress acts, Medicare will cut physician payments 23 percent effective December 1, 2010. The NCMS and many physician groups continue to urge Congressional leaders to avert a Medicare crisis by stopping the cuts and by finding a permanent fix to the SGR problem.

House Leaders Urged to Avert A Medicare Physician Access Crisis
In a letter to US House leaders, the NCMS has joined with other state medical societies, the AMA and national specialty organizations in asking Congress to act in early November to avoid a pending 23% cut in Medicare and TRICARE physician payments.

HR 3962 Headed for President’s Signature; Will Update Medicare Physician Payments
Shortly after 7:00 Eastern time Thursday evening, the House passed H.R. 3962, which provides a 2.2 percent Medicare fee schedule update for physician services through November 2010. The bill passed by a bipartisan vote of 417 to 1. Since the same legislation passed the Senate last week, the bill will be sent promptly to President Obama’s desk to be signed into law.
